A Brief preview of our History

 

 

1.  1994...Matthew & Magdalene Liow invited several close friends to come together for evening prayer and fellowship. Met in the guest room of the Monastery.
 
2.  1995-1997...Visiting Carmelite Friars provided much encouragement to the small group. Reading materials sourced from internet and print.
 
3.  1998...Frs Camilo and Charles visited the Monastery, foundation of OCDS KK,
Matthew & Magdalene sourced formation materials from Carmelite Priory, Oxford.
The group of 10 commenced "Welcome to Carmel" "Rule of Life" in study and sharing.
 
4.  1999-2001...Several other Carmelite Friars visited the Nuns; most evenings were spent in light formation talks and fellowship with the group, now growing in numbers.
 
5.  2002...Matthew ,Magdalene, James, Thasius, Florence and Justin was admitted  in the presence of Fr Dominic Vas, being the First Novices of KK OCDS Community. A program of study and sharing was implemented to continue formation for the novices; some observers were invited to participate in a parallel program.
 
 
6.  2003...First Pastoral Visitation of Fr Aloysius Deeney to KK Community.
 
7.  2004...First National OCDS Congress held in Kuching, facilitated by Fr Aloysius. On 31st July, 2004 Ten members  made their First Promises before the General Delegate. On 2nd August, the Community welcomed 3 novices.
The Community Council was formed ...
8.  2005-2006...Continued with formation for Aspirants, Novices and Promises.
Second National OCDS Congress held in Bundu Tuhan Retreat Centre in March 2006.
